FISH
“Friends Interested in Sharing and Helping” is a youth group that is open to the community for ages 3-12 years old.  There is one group for ages 3-7 and one group for ages 8-12.  We meet at the church every other Thursday from 6:00-7:30.  We do crafts, games, singing, and learn about the Bible.  We also go fishing and bowling, have picnics, and go on other field trips.  Come check us out and bring your friends.  Call the church for details.

Confirmation Class
Confirmation is a two year program open to youth who are 13 years of age and older.  The program opens as youth explore their own faith journeys and then begin to learn about the formation of the Christian Church, our worship lives and experiences, the history of the United Church of Christ and Emmanuel UCC.  During the course of the program we read Scripture and learn about its relevance for our own lives in a world that is frequently chaotic and sometimes fails to live according to God’s plan for us.  The UCC Statement of Faith is explored in depth as we learn how it applies to us and how we live.  Confirmation class is held every Sunday morning from 9-9:45 a.m.  Each session opens with devotions brought in by the youth attending the classes.  Lessons are taught through a variety of learning experiences including the use of poetry, writing, art, and reading of newspapers to apply what we have learned.  A service project will be part of the program.

Evangelism

The Evangelism Committee here at Emmanuel is quite active with its various responsibilities to congregation members, visitors, and the Abbottstown Community in general. Among the many duties are maintaining the church's prayer chain, arranging social events, and promoting the church and its spiritual programs. Coffee socials and social "outings" are planned by committee members approximately bimonthly. These events provide a wonderful atmosphere for fun and fellowship. Evangelism also maintains contact with our "shut-ins" and college students. This committee assists with our church community outreach programs such as public breakfasts/suppers, music concerts, child safety programs, etc.

Be sure to visit Emmanuel UCC, Center Square, Abbottstown on any Sunday morning or during one of our community events and you will be welcomed...by any of Emmanuel's members!
